Bentfield is on its own small promontory on Prestwick Beach, between St Nicholas Golf Course, and the sea. 10 minutes walk from Prestwick town, but it feels like a different world. If you can tear yourselves away from Bentfield during your stay, there are plenty of activities on the door step, and a short drive away.
On the door step:
- Prestwick Promenade is a mile or so in length, stretching from Bentfield past the sailing club, the playground (often with an ice cream van) to the kids indoor play centre at the far end.
- Prestwick Beach is mainly sandy, dog friendly and has decent water quality. At the Bentfield end of the beach, the rock pools will keep you entertained for hours. You can walk from Bentfield along the beach to Ayr.
Within a short drive:
Brig O Doon - Robert Burns Fans will enjoy a trip to Alloway, his birth place, which is 5 miles from Bentfield
Ayr Races - Just a couple of miles away is Scotland's only grade 1 race track. It's a fun day out for the family.
Take a day trip:
Get the ferry to Arran - Go from Ardrossan, just a few miles up the coast to the magnificent isle of Arran. It's perfect for walks, whisky and wildlife.
Culzean Castle - A stunning, fairytale castle, perched on the cliff top. With a swan lake, formal gardens, pistols and swords, it's fascinating, and perfect for a family day out.
